Oh fuck, USB-C is a way worse clusterfuck than I ever expected.

So you have:
- backwards-compatibility for all the horrible USB-A charging protocols (that need a $1 chip to negotiate and can take seconds to complete)
- any cable that wants to do more than 3A must have a fucking memory chip with 128bits of memory that actually only stores 2 bytes of data saying that it can do 5A
- any cable/device that wants to speak PD needs an IC that can dedicate 40KB of flash and 4KB of RAM just for the FUCKING CC protocol (because of course using I2C like everyone else wasn't gonna be done, also this is enough computing power to land a spaceship on the moon, also this is another $1.5 chip)
- the connector is reversible, but not symmetric, so you need multiplexers for the high speed data lines, and multiplexers cost you signal integrity so you need active multiplexers, another fucking $1 chip for every single USB-C port that goes above USB 2.0 speeds.

And I'm only half way through the video. It keeps getting worse.
