why do we even have small toes in the first place, I am no biologist but like, wouldn't we be better off with having 8 toes rather than 10? I might be completely oblivious to some absolutely vital thing regarding small toes but like, they just seem to serve no purpose at all besides trying to curl under neighbouring toes

@jeder we only have toes because our feet used to be hands that slowly evolved into a less handlike shape as we started becoming bipedal
