hey fedi, i kinda fell off in the latest software meta so i need your answers: i have a spare vps (2gb ram, 50gb storage) and if i were to host a fediverse instance, what software should i go with?
i'm a big fan of emoji reactions and a somewhat accessible admin menu (as in i don't have to dig layers deep to get to the blocking menu for example)
i don't expect to host anything else on the machine or have more than like 5 active users at most.
customization would be nice to have (themes or something) as well. and preferably the frontend to be usable on mobile and desktop.
i've had mastodon, *oma and many *key instances but for some reason i couldn't vibe with any of these 100%, always for different reasons and they all had their share of annoying things that made hosting dogshit
alternatively as a last resort i can accept like an invitation to a non-mastodon server for test drive or something, although i'd really want to put the vps to use at some point
@blakeana you could try iceshrimp.net but I am not sure how it would go with your admin interface requirement since both mod and admin interfaces are not fully done yet
@jeder people seem to glaze iceshrimp-net completely ignoring the fact it's still unusable for anyone who isn't already an advanced computer autist with its half-baked UI
@jeder because apparently you didn't read the part where i mentioned i'd want the software to have an accessible admin menu, which, afaik, IS-NET doesn't have.
@jeder Hi Jeder, been a while. I just spun up another iceshrimp.net instance and the amount of work that’s been done in the last few months, wow!
@blakeana it’s unfinished but does have an admin menu, and a moderator menu. Anything that doesn’t work in the GUI can be done through the api (/swagger at the end of the url)
