Planning my trip to Vienna
Apparently the cheapest and the safest ticketing option for me is to get ticket for BE to Miedzylesie for like 10 euro (in Koleo), then another 10 euro (on Intercity.pl) for Miedzylesie-Lichkov and then Lichkov-Wien Hbf for like 36 euro. Around 56 euros for the whole route, which is, well, fine.

Pic related, but it's not for this configuration. But damn, ticketing to Germany got much easier in the recent years (as I can buy anything from Danzig to anyplace in BRD, even if I change in Poznan) and it's often cheaper to buy @ bahn.de rather than split it somewhere, even though I have a 51% discount in the PKPIC area, but ticketing to Austria is still a pain (and yeah, splitting works, as you can see by me paying 10 euros for freaking 8 minutes between Miedzylesie and Lichkov and still getting the best possible offer).

I mean, why should I care, it's a business trip anyway (but my department is quite short on travel money, so the more frugal I am, the more conferences they are able to pay for)

Okeeey, my friend reminded me that CD has cheaper tickets for the border crossing, so my department will save 6.50 euros. Good

But the department doesn't care that much about 15 zl (I need to be frugal, but this difference is not really much), so y'know, I won't risk a fine for that

@pony I mean, if, let's say, I were in the same situation e.g. going to Brno via Bohumin in 2023, I would have probably just skip the crossing ticket altogether and I would have just bought a ticket from Katowice to Chalupki and then a ticket for R8 from Bohumin

@naruciakk not sure about that, especially if it's one of those weird trains that terminate at Bohumin, there is no CD crew and the PKP IC one sweeps the trains before to get everyone off it

@naruciakk i'd also check if there is like some super cheap promo from gdansk to praha via CD, that can sometimes be cheaper than just partial route

@pony Hmm, that's might be something

However, it's probably not cheaper than Gdansk-Miedzylesie with my discount, and for Czechia I need to buy the whole trip on a single ticket anyway, as I'm planning to catch some pretty short train changes (to arrive in Wien as soon as possible), thus I need to start my ticket to Vienna at least in Letohrad (still on the same BE)

@pony @jeder I agree with pony here, especially given the fact that as a Gdansk-Bydgoszcz-Poznan-Wroclaw route enjoyer, I have the same issue there. Fortunately now BE have the lowest number of stops ever on that route (on Gdansk-Poznan they stop like Gedania and on Poznan-Wroclaw only in Leszno, which should be the standard for this route as a whole) and I hope it's gonna stay that way. 4:20 Gdansk Gl-Wroclaw Gl., that a treat

@naruciakk @jeder but what for, there is the rychlik for local connections and wroclaw - vienna with the usti transfer is inherently stupid, that should be just another layer via opole-ostrava-breclav, if we finally somehow realized we can do trains or something

@jeder @pony and this rail line should definitely be rebuild, but for regional trains from Wroclaw/Klodzko to Nachod, nothing more really.

I enjoy the CDS Nachod buses, especially that their main stop is quite close to the place I always stay in while in Kudowa, but still

@jeder @pony I know, I know, but in the worst case scenario I would just catch anything to Pardubice and catch the same rj Vindobona that I would catch if I bought a ticket with the train change in Pardubice. But I would take the chance to spent that additional 1:30 in Vienna, not in Pardubice
