apple meatriders need to be studied
A: So they're naming their OS after the year it was released, actually a good idea, fine. So 2025's OS is going to be named...iOS26. Can't even get that right Apple, silly idea. B: Their really not 2025's OSes though, 2025 will be 3/4 over by the time the "26" OS versions come out. If you're going to name something after the year, and you're releasing it at essentially the end of the year, it doesn't make any sense to name it after the current year. Because then all throughout the following year people are using "last year's" whatever it is. It's just like how car mfgs release the next model year vehicles during Q4 of the current year. With a fall release, the OS26 versions aren't for 2025, 2025 might as well be over by that point, they're the OSes for 2026, so they're named 26.

@jeder apple are reportedly switching to a new naming scheme (YY+1, so macos 15 would actually be macos 26)

but even then with how confusing that sounds, there are people who defend them lol
