@halva @jeder GBA SP (2003): US$99.99 (equivalent to $171 in 2024) (also even the gamecube was that cheap back then, they kinda had to drop the price because it wasn't selling too well)
original DS (2004): US$149.99 (equivalent to $249.69 in 2024)

it's a pretty steady increase and clearly the cause isn't inflation
it's true that the switch and switch 2 aren't really in the same hardware category as their predecessors but that's still pushing it
