@halva@jeder huh, I understood game key carts such that they would work in any Switch 2 when plugged in, and not tied to any account.
I think the main reason for their existence is probably bloated third party games which won't fit on the largest regular Switch 2 cartridge (64 gigabytes as far as I remember), and allowing those games to still have a semi-physical release.
If my assumptions are correct, they're obviously a downgrade from a proper cartridge, but still an upgrade from a printed download code (which weren't rare for Switch 1 either)

Switch 2 Game Key Cards are essentially just what, like, PS and Xbox physical discs have been for the past decade; a transferable physical authentication method for a digital game. as stated, it’s not Great, but I’ll take a Game Key Card over just a paper download code in a case
