@NeonPurpleStar i use a fairly recent thinkstation in the computer lab. The specs are decent, but lenovo's bloatware can be annoying and the peripherals suck ass.
@NeonPurpleStar@Reiddragon@gettie tbh thinkpads are overrated like, I can fathom recommending t480 because of being able to have bigger battery than a lot of laptops (and next generations of thinkpads) but it's also getting slow, and it's a thinkpad
@jeder@NeonPurpleStar@gettie about the only thing they have going is the somewhat large community for modding them, but thesedays we have MNT if hacking the hardware is your thing, and Framework ain't half bad there, either, from what I've heard
@Reiddragon@NeonPurpleStar@gettie framework is a piece of shit from company that is larping as an oem, it's even bigger garbage than thinkpads of today
@jeder@NeonPurpleStar@gettie huh? First I've heard of that; people I've heard from seemed happy with frameworks; is this another case of enshittification or what?
@NeonPurpleStar@Reiddragon@gettie state of laptop market is sad, you have countless windows OEMs which are just bad, all the clevo or whatever rebrands, some of them with linux which are just beyond the reach for many people, and macbooks, which are decent usability-wise but then, it's apple which is just not everyone's cup of tea, but also you get no expandability and not that great repairability (not that windows OEMs are any better at it)
