somehow PKP can just refurbish old ass equipment and be fine. or well, not really, they run out of capacity constantly, but the carriages themselves are fine. there was no reason for DB to ever introduce IC2. IC1 was perfectly fine, capable of going 200km/h, they even refurbished it recently. or ÖBB to replace their stellar old cars with subpar railjets.
