@ielenia who the hell calls corn maize
❤️ 1
@jeder exactly (at least in english) i have no idea nobody that i know, that's for sure
@jeder @ielenia i think it is the correct term for an article title corn largely refers to it in food context, while maize used as the general industrial term in any context

@halva @jeder ....i've never heard anyone call it "maize" in any sense, even for non-food uses
@ielenia @jeder ive definitely seen "maize" used in the very general sense in english and russian
@jeder @ielenia although funnily enough the russian wikipedia redirects from "mais" (maize) to "kukuruza" (corn)

@halva @jeder russian doesn't count here i suppose that could be a regional thing i guess
@ielenia @jeder @halva i've seen it only used in french here (because yknow the word is literally french) never in englush

@ielenia @jeder oh no im not saying it does, i just think it's obviously not nearly as common but more "correct" for an article on corn in the very general sense

@halva @jeder i mean there is no page about corn also funnily enough every page about a more specific variety of corn in the "see also" section just calls it corn so it's not quite consistent
