One of the things I really dislike about modern TV programmes (eg Severance, The Boys, etc) is they are always presented in a "cinematic" aspect ratio. Why??? It bothers me so much! You're being shown on a TV!

Why are you not in 16:9?? I'm not watching this in a cinema. Why are you not using the full size of, y'know, TV, the platform you're on.

Even TV programmes on the BBC do this as well now, so it's not limited to streaming media.

@yassie_j tbh on streamings it kind of makes sense maybe? because i bet some of them expect you to use a fucking phone and phones nowadays are almost 21:9
