CSD purists be like: yeah we should let app developers decide how to display window controls, roundness and shadows. this is great design that totally doesn't break your brains
5 different apps with 5 different window decoration styles, each with controls in different, entirely random places

@jeder tbf plasma just uses unity's global menu api and it works fine if the app developer isnt a cunt and supports it

chromium supports it and it works fine

intellij platform used to support it but jetbrains is run by satan so they dropped it (at least there's a plugin as replacement)

@halva I mean yes plasma uses it but there's no encouragement made for people to use it, like, you kind of have to know that kde actually makes use of it both as a clueless user, and a clueless developer who probably saw gnome/unmodified kde and went "yeah whatever", while unity was there with it just being a crucial part of the experience, while being the face of the most popular distro

@halva like, firefox comes to mind here, default build doesn't have global menu patches, you had to use some fuckass build from aur on arch and I don't think that one is being maintained even
