In all seriousness, heads up to fellow fedi admins because I just got this dm out of the blue, and I'm sure this isn't the only one of these going around. The purpose of this post is not to expose the specific account but rather the pattern.
dm thread. beginning is a message by Soyachuuya @Soyachuuya@mastodon.social "@puppygirlhornypost2@transfem.social hey there can i speak to you in privately? this is important" the next message is from Amber @puppygirlhornypost "ehat's it about". Soyachuuya replies "@puppygirlhornypost2@transfem.social Hey, someone is pretending to be you and posting fake giveaways with a scam link. I lost my account and made a new one. A lot of people, including me, accidentally reported your account instead of the scammer because your usernames are similar. I think the fake account is banned now, but I panicked and told my friends to report yours. I’m really sorry! 😔"
