What I find so annoying is that Pixel phones sold globally have the Japanese Felica standard (which enables Suica) built into their devices, but Google just doesn’t enable it for use, even if you go to Japan. You have to root and flash Japanese firmware to use it.
So there’s no practical difference between the the Japanese and global versions, but uh, Google just locks away this tiny bit of hardware away from the user via software. That’s it.
Meanwhile, Apple just let’s almost any iPhone with a Felica chip use Suica in Japan, regardless of where you bought it.
It seems really annoying that Google places hardware inside your phone, that you cannot use????
