so the aftermath of losing an instance and re-hosting it on the same domain is:
1. some instances still have a phantom follow on the account (with the same name). it shows like it's followed but not all posts federate, and they should. in those cases it can be unfollowed and followed back to fix it. also it's questionable from the point of impersonation, i feel like instances need to reject that actor now since public keys don't match. *oma and mastodon don't care about that, not sure about *key
2. most of instances don't even care that the whole instance key doesn't match. the only one who rejects it is GTS. to fix it i need to bother creatures with GTS and ask them to defederate and refederate my instance, hopefully it'll fix it. but it's the right behavior, it shouldn't be ignored definitely

@byte misskey 12 wasn't a fan of 1. like at all, it didn't federate anything and you had to remove all clues of that instance existing lmao
no idea how it works now

@jeder also a correct thing to do, better than ignoring. i'd also displayed some kind of warning in the admin panel probably, so everyone is aware of instance fuck up or impersonation attempt
