It often feels like technological progress has plateaued. But where do we still get new developments that benefit the average person?

A few things that come to mind:

- LEDs
- batteries
- vaccines

@uint8_t really? It's been going steadily downhill where I live. I guess fuel cell buses are an improvement over diesel ones.

@schratze fuel cell? here I’m seeing more and more battery electric buses. but also the quality is slowly increasing (track repairs, schedule improvements)

@uint8_t yeah my city got a fleet of fuel cell buses last year. The downside is that the acceleration allows the drivers to drive like they're on a rampage

@schratze @uint8_t we got battery buses and like, outside of the shitshow that is the acceleration (I also hate how quick it is), and the official capacity of 18m buses (it's abysmal if you have never compared them to diesel 18m, because of battery weight lmao) it's quite good
though it seems they aren't as reliable because in my city despite claiming that only 1 diesel bus will be needed, they constantly need to use like 7 of them, that's like a third of the buses out on the streets, and that's not because of rush hours
