despite it being a new construction, they were basing it off Konstal 105N to an extent, at least visually, and Konstal 105N is like, one of the last generations of PCC cars, it was incredibly boxy, and because of its length, their fronts were like this, and since this is pretty much double 105N but with low floor middle section, the front also got that treatment
