also damn the students in the library really gotta disable those funny noises in facebook messenger im not used to hearing them constantly to the point my brain filters them out subconsciously

@jeder its funny my phone hasnt had vibrations on since 2014 but i still check if it was my phone when the desk vibrates

yea I usually went for all sound off until the tech got better and nowadays I find vibrations to be more pleasant than any notification sound because all of them are annoyingly high pitched

@jeder i don't think i have a preferred "subtle notification" alert since phones stopped having colorful notification diodes

i turn on the noises when i really need to pick up a phonecall but thats noisy on purpose then

@poni @jeder unironically I was the best at responding to DMs when i could glance at my phone and tell what kind of notif i had waiting and why and it was just that colorful dot

idk it just worked

@tlapka @jeder well the always on screen iPhone has now (and other pricy phones ig) should be maybe bit like it but itā€™s not, I donā€™t know why

@poni @jeder my coworker has like a little square that the phone case makes a spot for that should show... something useful? idk tho. maybe im just bad at responding and the diode is an excuse

@poni @tlapka @jeder with my old iphone, i used to use a fedi client, and the screen would light up with every notification and then go back to dark. so if it was in my field of view, i'd know roughly what's happening, but without bothering anyone around..
