i wonder if i can put my old laptop into any use and maybe use it as a shitbox for hosting stuff
though the most contact i had with hosting anything was with VPS services and i never did anything on actual hardware
can someone help me out and ELI5 if/how can i set up something on there? (nothing huge, maybe a static website or a single user fedi instance on something light)
it's some random budget HP laptop which model i don't remember anymore. has integrated gpu, an amd athlon silver gpu, with (apparently) 16 gigs of ram. that thing isn't useful for gaming because of the specs, and i can't use it as a windows art station since the colors on the screen are a crime against humanity (the screen itself is of abysmal quality, nothing i can do). i guess lack of ethernet access may be an obstacle? i havent heard of doing networking over wifi but also i have a life and don't touch computers much
