maybe there should be a version of USB-C that's a bit larger and less flimsy, specifically for charging ports since wearing those out means the device is about to become a brick in a couple hours' time (or at least needs a board repair)

or maybe USB-C should've never become
the standard for that in the first place

@lis I see people with this problem and yet I've never had a USB-C port fail. Not on a laptop or on a phone

I've seen other people's hardware with broken ports but I'm not sure how it happens. Just general bad build quality? Lack of mechanical support? Does seem to mostly happen with plastic bodied devices

@erincandescent @lis i've had usb-c ports fail on two powerbanks
both showing the same symptoms, as in, powerbank gets recognised as headphones, doesn't charge, and in some cases, fucks up recipient's device usb stack until reboot
