@punyworm the problem is that people who played since 2.0 dont have that problem, it's easier to do 100+ quests of one expansion as you go, than join x years later and have to catch up on several expansions worth of content
you can buy a story skip but isnt an option for free trialers, square mentioned they might make skipping easier or smth but idk how
@me eh idk what to say, ill just say that i like most of the art direction and sound design and my little guy and it greatly elevates an otherwise subpar game
other mmos arent rly that interesting from the aesthetic standpoint other than the secret world (that is dead) and smt imagine (that is kinda dead and is an old mmo so its hard to play). the dead part isnt rly that important in theory since i avoid interactions in ffxiv but idk when i play mmo i would like to play, uh, mmo
like idk i feel that the point of mmo is social interaction since most of other things are subpar compared to normal games but i avoid it so its kinda pointless for me
@punyworm personally i treat ff14 as a spiritual successor of the browser mmos like panfu or club penguin where you just hang around, do quests/events, play minigames, maybe rp or chat, and mog others with outfits
@jeder@me id play wow but i get a headache thinking of this
anyway those browser mmos have an advantage of not being 100 gigs, actually i think it's the biggest issue of this game, like ok i now it has years worth of content but if i treat this as a noncommittal chat room then chat room taking most of my disk space is insane
@jeder@me anyway my fav chatroom was webfishing since there i actually somewhat interacted with ppl (well mostly read chat honestly) but it happened only cuz i was joining rooms together with an irl, i wouldn't do that on my own (not back then at least)
