@aetios apparently there have been SEVERAL people that discovered that friend doesn't mean "someone to whom you are willing to sell your shit at a preferential timeframe/price" when I did things like send a semi-expensive mic overseas at no cost because they could use it more, or when I helped them deal with some stuff emotionally over a period of several months, or [...]

and like
I'm a recluse
I'm fairly close to a classical definition of antisocial
the fact that people are learning about basic friendship things through
me is deeply fucked

@toast @aetios I blame this on english not having a distinction between przyjaciel and znajomy

@jeder @aetios if these translate to russian phonetically, it actually does BUT no one uses it!
English has friend (drug), buddy/pal (priyatel') and acquaintance (znakomij), but everyone just says "friend", in part for cultural and in part for social reasons. I do have the distinction internally (and I think in English), but I tend not to verbalize it because people get confused.

@toast @aetios yea we have przyjaciel/kolega/znajomy but acquaintance sounds like that 4th thing, it sounds waaaaaaay too formal
