In think why both the English and German announcements are bad is because there is so much useless crap being announced

"Blah blah blah 61016"

"Blah blah CCTV in operation"

"At this station, words words words, a GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY train (this is a GWR exclusive station) to destination, first stop, second stop, third stop, fourth stop, leaving at 12:34 consisting of 1234 coaches (nobody cares) is ready to leave to destination at 12:34 as it is ready to leave"

"This is a security announcement. Two whole paragraphs of prose, passengers should keep a watchful eye, not leave their baggage unattended, as this leads to unnecessary many security incidents"

And in germany they love: "the train is arriving", " the train is leaving" and "these are all the trains the next half hour please enjoy this 3 minute long announcement"

While in NL there are no announcement, unless something doesn't go as planned, like, a platform changing or train cancellation

Part of the reason there are so many announcements here is that they don't plan the arrival platform ahead of time. Like how. You don't know if there'll be space for the train when it arrives??

So everyone is hugging the departure signs looking when their train finally arrives to see what random platform they've send it to

@steph oh yeah they seem to do this in czechia too for some reason
(also polish stations are full of announcements for some reason)

@steph warszawa zachodnia is especially egregious because they will announce every single train that enters the station on platform 9, famous for being detached from the rest of the station
plus every single train from platform 1 which is used by a metro-like service
