idk man some of you (i guess me included too, when i think about it) treat mastodon just as annoying people who left Twitter treat Twitter and maybe we shouldn't?

like sure the devs priorities are way out of what the users seem to expect (quotes, locking replies), it's effectively closed with how little community involvement seems to be wanted (something something we have our own designers), and i do not like their opinions (hardcoded 500 chars), and it's fun to poke fun at it every once in a while as it's the largest implementation and has privileges others do not (funding, being able to define de facto specs)

but, like, "crapstodon"? seriously? you're are more mature than that. that's no different than calling Twitter xitter. are you 6¿

at this point even vluesky has more safety features than masto. instead of bickering about "well someone can just bypass it" like everyone here seems to LOVE they just implement it regardless.

someone can just break in through your window too and yet you have a door lock... curious

it's not hard to beat masto in software. it'll be way harder to beat masto in marketing and the availability of open/approved registration instances (something not in scope for my software)

and, uhh, none of the current solutions are a good replacement. both the pleroma and misskey family have their own issues. upstream misskey cannot even get blocks correct for fucks sake

how are you going to convince syulio misskey to implement support for your softwares "please remove my message from this quote" activity?

@kopper I mean this should not be that hard though? Misskey already has a way to limit reactions so like, I am not sure if this would be a hard sell

@jeder technically it's not hard to implement. just set the db row to null

getting the feature approved without getting questioned on why it'd be necessary, on the other hand

@jeder their blocks are still broken and sharkey has to go out of their way to try to fix them to work the way they should, i genuinely do not think misskey would care about things like this
