@Mae apparently steam is blocking sony controllers from working properly even if steam input for it is disabled and you need to shut down steam first

@jeder @Mae is this a windows thing? i've been using ps3/ps4/ps5 controllers with steam on linux just fine for ages.

@ar @jeder the specific issue is (at least ds4) implements a bluetooth pair over usb protocol that steam doesn't support. So if you plug your controller via usb steam takes over the hid device before bluez has a chance to do the pairing

(This is assuming you also have the steam input udev package, which lets you use steam's input drivers)
